The Synod of Sutri was a council that occured in 1046, when there were three different people that claimed the Papalship. Benedict IX sold it to Gregory, but then he wanted it back, while at the same time Silvester declared himself pope. Henry the III, due to public unrest, called the Synod and they eventually decided they were all illegitimate. Then they made Clement II pope.
